I have a variety of borderline OCD behaviors. Probably the most "quirky" is my bead collection. If you have ever been in my house, you would know that organization is not my strong suit. But my bead collection? Insanely organized. All the beads in little tiny boxes inside of bigger boxes inside of bigger boxes. I literally spend about twice the amount of time organizing my beads as I do actually making anything with my beads. Organizing by size, and then by color. And then as soon as I use enough beads of one type that they would fit in a smaller container, moving them into the next smallest size container and then re-organizing all the other beads in the box.

I think it's all incredibly soothing. My husband? Thinks I'm crazy. :)

I collect license plates. From EVERYWHERE I go. I don't have all 50 states, but I have one from every state in Australia, lots of Pacific Islands, Europe, etc.

It's so much a part of me that a friend's boyfriend once sent me one as a Thank You gift. Wish she was still with him. :)

bunny

Something quirky about it is that when I was younger, I used to love to stash all the things I liked under my pillow. Stuff like my diary and pen, some chocolate and candies, etc. You could find so many treasures under there. Thankfully I got rid of that habit. LOL.

Lynne in NC

First of all -- Wow Sara! awesome giveaway, you are so generous.... pick me! pick me!

I know this may not be quirky to some, but I sleep better when I am facing West. I did not know this until room redesign (as an art form)became more popular in decorating. One decorator mentioned that furniture placement was key, etc.....

It's true, even as a young girl I HAD to have my bed put in a particular spot in my bedroom or I couldn't sleep. I loved to 'redesign' my room about every three months as a tween and teenager and my bed HAD to face a particular way.

Thankfully, in our Master Bedroom, the bed fits the best with the bed facing West. (oops, didn't mean to rhyme). However, when we are traveling, I don't move the bed, but I do understand why in some places I am able to sleep better than others. Quirky?
Peace,
Lynne in NC

i did not realize the bridesmaid dresses were not all the same color....and i was there! guess they were close. hmmmm. yeah, you are giving away a great give away! i have too many quirks to mention!!!! lol loved your blog!

Corrie

Sara....this is the best giveaway ever. Wow....thanks for the opportunity!! So glad your Tuesday went well...I wish I could have bought one of everything!! ok....now about me. I have a little thing about shoes and purses. I think because it doesn't matter your size, there are always cute shoes and purses to buy. Once, my husband lined up my shoes up and down our stairs many times to prove a point. Maybe a little too many.......I just smiled!! It was kinda sad to see the how many of each I had. Unfortunately, it really didn't change my habit....I still love to buy them!! Have a great day!!

Krista

I memorize license plates. I don't intentionally do it, it just happens. My kids think it's pretty cool though - when we see a car and they say "Hey, that's Rachel car!" And I say "No it's not, her license plate is 54M Z12," they think I'm using my "Mommy Magic!" ;-)

Michelle Q

Because I got bored in Kindergarten while we were supposed to be learning the alphabet (I could read), I decided to add a little challenge and learn it backwards. To this day I can say the alphabet faster backwards than I can forwards. Someday this might prove useful (though I haven't a clue how or when!).

Becky

Wow, what an incredible giveaway! Thanks so much for doing this! I hope you don't mind...I'm going to link to it from my blog so others can see your stuff and love it as much as I do!

My quirk would definitely have to be selling on eBay. I go through life looking at everything through eBay-colored glasses! I do not have anything extra in our house. If we aren't using it, it's sold on eBay. When my kids outgrow clothes, they go up on eBay. I don't buy much on there, but am able to make a little extra money and help out with additional expenses by doing this.

Ginger

Dear Sara,
This is a very nice give away package. For somebody who keeps telling that they are cheap, this is certainly not a cheap gift to give away for free just so you know. (your momma)

Jennifer Metz

What an awesome & generous giveaway! Your quirk had me giggling, especially about the Sprite cans!

I could tell you that I played with barbies until the age of 14, secretly of course, because I was a cheerleader & had a reputation to protect! LOL But I think my biggest quirk is that I'm a packrat, to the point that I almost have an anxiety attack when my husband tells me we need to get rid of things. I have clothes & shoes in my closet from before my husband & I got married (7 years ago today) that I know I'll never wear but I still can't get rid of them *just in case* I am getting better though! I recently went through & donated about half of my daughter's outgrown clothes to Goodwill. I'm talking newborn outfits & she is almost 2 years old. I still need to tackle the other half but I have to build myself up for it! =P

Sac

hee hee! i love this! susan notified me of two more that i have. i shake my fork while i eat (with nothing on it, in between bites). i don't use the creamer in the little jar in the breakroom like everyone else does. i use the original container, and i have my own stirring sticks at my desk. i hum unconsciously (so does chase). you already know about my "recording" days...HA!! i'm sure that my other coworkers or calvin could tell you more of my quirks! love ya!

Candace Perkins

Wow, this is a wonderful give away!!! Please pick me, pick me! :)

Hmm, I probably have a lot of quirks but just don't realize it! LOL! The one that comes to mind first is setting my alarm clock. It is probably more like OCD than a quirk, but I have to check it several times when I go to bed. I have to check the time 3 times, then check the volume 3 times, then check the time 3 times again with the lights off and 3 more volume, then 3 more with lights on! Ugh. It takes me a few minutes just to "check" my alarm every night! My boyfriend told me I am going to wear out the buttons on my clock!

I can also relate to the shoe and handbag quirk too! I totally agree! You can have fabulous shoes and purses no matter what! My theory is the more I have, the more I can rotate through my daily wardrobe and the longer each one lasts!!! Yay!

Thanks!
:)
Candace

Carrie

I have many quirks.....where to start? When I gorcery shop, I can't take the first item on the shelf of anything, I prefer to grab the one towards the back, that way there is less chance that someone else has touched/opened it (drives my husband and mom crazy - my sister has started doing it now that she lived with me). If there is only one of something left on the shelf it is VERY hard for me to take it. I cannot go to bed with dishes in the sink. I iron my bed sheets. I HATE listening to voicemail (if you call me and I don't answer I will call you back because I will see that I missed a call from you). I could go on forever....
Thank you for the opportunity to win your giveaway. :)

Nicole

I like to add jam and mustard to my grilled cheese sandwiches - I've been told that this is quirky.

jennifer at pink ric rac

Hmmm... I'm pretty quirky (borderline OCD). ;)

* When I'm talking to someone, I like to write out the words I'm saying with my finger. For example, I'd probably write the word "finger" with my right hand in the air. Most of the times, its in print, but sometimes when I'm feeling extra quirky, I'll do it in cursive. haha

* I have to be in the middle everywhere. Can't sit on the aisle in movie theaters, have to be at a table in the middle of a restaurant (or else I'll be thinking of it my entire meal!), I had to choose an apt. that was in the middle of the complex... I couldnt' be by the road. I will go insane unless I know there are people and things around me.

Geez, I need a therapist...

Kristin

I have no idea why I started this...and I've be doing it as long as I can remember. I draw hearts on the inside tips of my fingers, with my thumb. What is that? I don't have a clue! I can't explain my behavior. Anyway, I hope I win the prize:):)

Janna

So I just discovered your blog - love it! I'm not a blogger...yet, I may get into it someday:) My quirk is well, lets just say collecting. I never would have said before that I'm a collector, but I'm thinking my friends would say I am and my husband, well, lets just said he'd agree 100%. But you see, this isn't a bad thing, I mostly collect fun things like FABRIC and well...patterns, and idea books, and scrapbooking stuff and well...you can imagine what my craft room looks like.
I love lists, you could probably add little neat notebooks and journals to my list of things I collect. I make lists for everything and then like you don't accomplish everything on my list and get down on myself for it. The 'list' goes on and on ...I love being organized, but don't pop into my house either, cuz you'll find various rooms in various stages of disarray at various times of day:) What a cool giveaway, thanks for the chance to win something! How fun!

Joanne

What an awesome giveaway.... you know what you said about the Sprite cans? Well, when I was a little girl, I had to go to all my brother's sport events (there were many!) I was sooo not sporty (but crafty:)) so I passed the time by collecting the ring pulls of any can of soft drink I could find. I made them into all sorts of weird creations (I don't do it anymore!)

Sue Cahill

When I was a child I collected acorns, why, I have no idea. At one point I had a shoe box full sitting on my closet floor. What I didn't know was they were infested with some kind of insect that hatched. My mother opened my closet door and there were hundreds of these ugly bugs swarming in there, yikes. That was the end of that collection. I'm still a collector of all sorts of things but I stay away from anything that might hatch.

Sew Spoiled

I am 30 and I am in a beginner's clogging class. We actually have a recital in front of 1000+ people May 18 and I am a little nervous! I made the decoupage jeans for each adult clogger in our group. What a great idea for your blog, I love drawings. Thanks for allowing all of us to share. :)

Amber B

I constantly get made fun of from all of my family and friends for this, but i cannot stand when my food is touching...my family thinks it is hilarious to toture me by mixing mashed potatoes and green beans or corn together and then put it on MY plate and they so kindly make sure it touches everything else on my plate...so then i am so obsessive that i have to just get a new plate and start all over. So that's my quirk...well i guess it is more of an obsession. :)

Suzy

Hello, I found your blog through etsy. I love your little shop and blog! Although I feel a little strange divulging such information to strangers, here goes! :)
I have a tendency to sleep with my arms clenched close to my body. Really close. Not on purpose, but it does build strong muscles!

Kristi

Quirks? Only crazy people have quirks, like....
Not being able to go to the grocery store without walking down the soap aisle...just because it smells so good.
Or if the song leader at church leaves out a verse of a hymn, singing it very quickly and quietly to myself and then catching up with everyone else...just because the songwriter must have written it for some reason!
Or Not being able to go to bed with dishes in the sink...just because it's so much nicer to start the day off without yesterday's baggage!
Yes, that's me...Quirky? Yes! Crazy? Probably!

Brenda J - My HodgePodgerie

hahaha.. what a fab giveaway and a very funny story!!! I would be thrilled to receive any of your treasures!! .. Actually I enjoyed reading all the comments people are leaving!!!!!! :D

Hmm.. quirky or bad habits... I'll say bad habit, since I can't think of something (i'm sure there are tons.. maybe I should ask my husband) but I have a bad habit of biting my lip when I get nervous. I'm not talking just a nibble, i'm talking biting to the point of like raw so that if I have something salty the next day or a few days later, it will hurt because its healing. I know.. gross.. Sorry.. Its completely one of those things that I've done all my life, that I don't even notice I'm doing until its too late, and I just can't stop! :D

Ginger

Hey,
Do I get to put my name in if I tell you something quirky? Like you don't know already how quirky I am. LOL I wrote the book on quirky afterall.

I just wanted to let you know that I fixed the problem I had posting a comment last time. Thanks for telling me how to fix it.

Love, mom

Laura Letiecq

I sometimes have the bad habit of clicking a pen opened and closed. The bad thing is that I did not realize how much I did it until one of my former students told me about it. I just noticed myself doing it today and I cannot remember the last time I did it....

Heather

I am a total fan of all of your creations, so winning this would be awesome!

I know I must have lots of quirks, but the fact that I always count steps as I walk up or down stairs counts as one I guess. I love math, so it is not unusual for me to count things like lights in a church sanctuary for example! Please pick me!!!!

Rachelle

Here's a strange quirk--I always notice the stitching on blankets and bedspreads. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I enter a room. Even if I'm staying at a motel--the first thing I notice is the stitching. If it isn't even or the pattern isn't consistant it drives me crazy!

Just to assure--this is my only "borderline OCD" trait. In fact, I'm so unlike this in all other areas of life that it makes people laugh when they find out!

Heather

I love reading about everyone's little quirks - such a fun topic! Mine is a little hard to explain, but... If I'm thinking about something or zoning out for awhile, I make bubbles between my tongue and lower lip and then pop them repeatedly. It's always embarassing when someone hears it and catches me in the act! I don't even realize I'm doing it most of the time!

Marie

Hmmm...I had to think about this for a while. I'm obsessively organized. I don't go to bed unless the dishes are done, put away and the counters have been cleaned with Clorox. I have to have clothes folded a certain way and put away in a certain order, therefore hubby tries to help, but really can't. I don't sew or do any sort of crafts unless all fabric is neatly folded and everything is in its place. I don't do things unless it's on the schedule and when I do, it's hard for me. I don't know if that's a quirk or if I'm crazy. My husband says one of my quirks is that I say something and then mouth it afterwards without even knowing it. How wierd and I must look so idiotic! Oh well! Now I consciously make an effort to make sure I don't do that!

Thanks for a fun giveaway!

Casey

Hi! What an awesome giveaway. So glad I found it! Fun topic too.

I guess my quirk is really kind of a disability. I'm completely deaf in my right ear due to infections and surgeries. I wear a big clunky hearing aid, but I still have a lot of trouble. I get a bit embarrassed asking people to repeat things over and over, so I have developed a generic "Mmm" sound that could be interpreted a variety of different ways. It could be "yes", "no", "I got you", "whatever", "you are right", "I disagree"...anything. lol.

Casey

Taleri

Hiya!

I guess my oddest quirk would be that I can't go to bed or fall asleep if anyone talks to me between the time i go to the bathroom at night and the time I actually fall asleep. If anyone talks to me, I have to get up, start all over and go to the bathroom again.

Rebecca

What a great giveaway! I guess one of my weirdest quirks is the obsession I have with my pillow. I've had it for ages. It's lumpy in some spots and flat in others. But oh so perfect. I have it all worked out so I can double it over and read. I take it every time I go out of town and have been known to unpack clothes if I don't have enough room in my suitcase for my pillow. And when I don't have my pillow with me I usually end up sleeping with no pillow at all. No other can compare! :)

Brandi aka Gloria

i thought of a quirk(maybe?) i have to rinse the shower walls and curtain before i can get out. and i don't know if it's a quirk or a bad habit but when i travel for long distances i travel in the left lane. didn't know it was illegal till you told me! and to the one who bites the inside of her lips..i feel you girl!! i've done the same thing for as long as i can remember! i used to get grounded for it!

Elizabeth

My biggest quirk is probably that I have to check all of the closets, the bathroom, under the bed and most of all the windows to make sure that they are locked and that no one is in the room. I think I've watched too many creepy movies and episodes of SVU. If I don't check everything I literally can't fall asleep...in fact I am crazy scared until all of the things are checked off my list each night! Off to complete my checklist...Sleep tight everyone! :)

alamodestuff

Thinking I could close the gap between my teeth, I habitually squeezed my front teeth together as a youngster. Maybe it worked, cuz I didn't have to have braces, the gap closed, and my teeth are really straight.

Kelly Lake

Thanks for the great giveaway. I think one of my quirks is I can't stand hand towels/dish towels, etc. that aren't hung straight on the racks. If my husband has just tossed one back rumpled, it drives me crazy and I have to straighten it!
Kelly

Matilda Sue

Hmmm - My biggest quirk is that I am OCD about some things and completely a slob about others. It makes no sense. My closet and drawers have to be perfectly ordered - but it is not uncommon for me to take clothes off and just throw them on the floor. My desk is a disaster area - but my files must be in a perfect order! I am so strange!

Jessica

I guess my two biggest quirks would be that I like to have the dishes done before I go to bed each night, and that I get ready for my day in the exact same order everyday: shower, face lotion, brush teeth, make up, hair, clothes, jewelery, deodarant and perfume. Does anyone else do that?

Kat Bryan

If I start something I have to finish it in just one or two sittings or I often lose interest. It doesn't matter if it's reading a book or doing a craft. If I put it down for more than a day I have problems going back and finishing it.

Kari Follett

I have a vast collection of vintage goodies - lace, paper ephemera, buttons, riboon, that I purchased for use on my scrapbook pages but I can't! I love looking at it, touching it. My husband thinks Im nuts!

Ronda Garnett

Quirks..to many to list :) But here's a couple...all my placemats have to be perfectly lined up and square to each other on the table.
All my clothes are lined up by color in my closet and all my shoes have to be lined up perfectly.

Johannah B

When I was 4 - somehow I got to know all the cars by names, models and years -- relatives used to take me for rides and have me identify cars. I don't do that anymore -- but I do write backwards :)

Kam A

What a wonderful giveaway! My quirk is definitely selling items whether it be on Amazon, Ebay, or I take them to the local consignment shops. The second my son no longer fits in a size I get rid of all of the clothes in that size. I don't like clutter and I don't like to store things that I am no longer using.

Stephanie Tate

My biggest quirk is that I count everything. When traveling I count people and cars and telephone poles - you get the point! I guess it's only appropriate that I'm an accountant! :) Love the blog Sara and as always I love your stuff. I miss getting to see all your new stuff at Cooper's Closet - actually I really miss the sale all together! Thanks for the fun read!

Kristi

Thank you for your giveaway! For me, I am alway's trying to learn different words in different languages. I pick certain common words or phrases such as, "Hello," and "I Love You," and try to memorize them in as many languages as I can.

I also collect refrigerator magnets and postcards from every state I visit.

Ever since I started going online, I started collecting News websites in a folder from all around the world. I like to pick a number for the day, say like 12, and for that day I will go to 12 different news sites and read what is going on in their little spot of the world. ~smile~

Dianna

I just saw your link via the front page of your Etsy shop and had to enter!

My quick shows itself up three evenings a week, when I'm in class. Although I can type reasonably well, I can't spell to save my life. However, I hate seeing that little squiggly line indicating a misspelling pop-up! So, although it disrupts the flow of my notes, I have to kill the misspellings as they arise :)

Michelle Rosborough

Everything in my closet is colorized...shoes,clothes,hats,etc...

julie

I have 1 really weird quirk...if the expiration date has been reached ...I chuck it...drives my husband bonkers...can't help it..oh well
